Summer 2010 Lane Pattern
June 10, 2010: Pinacle Events announced today the lane pattern that will be used for the summer 2010 Mini-Eliminator. Kegel, South Point, and tournament sponsors have chosen Kegel's "Sunset Strip" pattern that will be used for all qualifying squads and early bird squads. This 40 foot condition was chosen because it allows all different parts of the lane to be played.
Kegel describes the "Sunset Strip" pattern as follows: "Using Kegel's reverse drop brush function, this pattern places oil on the lane in four board strips. Some lanes may allow certain styles to play the outside strip while others may find the middle or inside strip the best. With a great performance and a little luck, you too can be a star on the Sunset Strip!"
Scoring on the Sunset Strip pattern should be around 20 pins lower than a normal house shot. "This is probably one of the easier shots we have put down for Mini-Eliminator qualifying" states tournament promoter Steve Sanders. Our goal is not to frustrate bowlers when they come to the South Point but try to keep the scoring reasonable.
The shot for the recently announced special event, Lane #1 Shootout, will be announced at the tournament. Bowlers should expect a higher scoring environment for the Lane #1 Shootout but the goal is still to avoid a house shot. Everyone participating in the Lane #1 Shootout will receive the brand new Time Bomb with free drilling.
Kegel will be stripping and oiling the lanes twice a day for the Mini-Eliminator. First oiling will take place prior to all 10am squads and the second oiling will take place prior to all 6pm squads. Lanes will also be stripped and oiled for the Sunday finals.
