Mini-Eliminator Now Has a Handicap Division
March 19, 2010
Las Vegas, NV: The 2010 Summer Mini-Eliminator has expanded its 205 & under division to 210 & under and has made it a handicap division. All bowlers competing in this division will receive handicap of 90% of 210 in qualifying and finals. This change will NOT affect the scratch age divisions since they never compete against each other. When the 3 division champions do compete in the final shootout the 1 game match will be bowled scratch.
To make sure the integrity of the tournament is not affected by having a handicap division the maximum handicap allowed will be 45 pins per game. This means bowlers with an average lower than 160 will receive the maximum handicap of 45 pins per game.
The Mini-Eliminator will be running at The South Point Hotel & Casino Wednesday, June 30th through Sunday, July 4th. There will be a total of 16 qualifying squads with 1 in 10 per division advancing to the finals and earning a minimum of $500. More bowlers will cash each squad since there is a 1 in 5 payout per division.
The good news is not only does the handicap division have its own tournament, with the winner guaranteed at least $7,500 and a chance to bowl 1 game for $20,000, it also has its own Early Bird Tournament. Bowlers in the 210 & under handicap division will have 3 Early Bird Squads to bowl with 12 advancing to their own finals and guaranteed a minimum of $100. The top prize in the handicap Early Bird Tournament is guaranteed to pay $1,000!
To be eligible for the 210 and under division a bowler must have a verifiable league average (summer or winter) of at least 21 games the past 2 years. Other restrictions include everyone in this division must be an amateur bowler and never belong to a professional tour.
