FORMAT

2011 SUMMER MINI-ELIMINATOR FORMAT

The Mini-Eliminator is a 3-game qualifying tournament. There are 26 different squads to choose from and each one has its own cut to the daily finals. Actually, there are 4 different cuts made in every squad; one for each division.

A bonus of 1 bye is awarded to the highest series of the day in each division. The bowlers earning the 1 bye are guaranteed a minimum of $300 and will enter the daily finals in Round 2.

Every squad has a specific ratio assigned to it that determines the number of bowlers from each division that will advance to the daily finals. The earlier in the week you bowl the easier it is to make the finals and the earlier you bowl each day also improves your chances of advancing as all 9am squads have the best ratios (1 in every 5 bowlers advances.)

All Mini-Eliminator qualifying and finals are done by division. Here are the four divisions that will be used (with eligibility rules.):

SCRATCH DIVISIONS

49 & UNDER DIVISION

Anyone under the age of 50 years old will bowl in this division. All bowlers are welcomed except current PBA members or anyone that has won a PBA National Title as a professional. All women are welcomed.

SENIOR DIVISION

Anyone age 50 & over will bowl in this division. All bowlers are welcomed except anyone that has won more than 2 national titles as a PBA member.

HANDICAP DIVISIONS

ELIGIBILITY: THE TWO HANDICAP DIVISIONS ARE 100% AMATEUR ONLY. ANYONE THAT HAS EVER BEEN A PROFESSIONAL BOWLER (MALE OR FEMALE) OR HAS EVER BEEN ON A NATIONAL TEAM (TEAM USA, ETC.) CANNOT BOWL IN EITHER HANDICAP DIVISION.

215 & UNDER DIVISION

All eligible bowlers that have a composite average of 215 or under but higher than 190 (determined by combining your highest winter league averages from the past 3 years - minimum 21 games each year to be counted) will bowl in this division.

189 & UNDER DIVISION

All eligible bowlers that have a composite average of 189 or under (determined by combining your highest winter league averages the past 3 years - minimum 21 games each year to be counted) will bowl in this division.

THE DAILY FINALS

Every day, after the last qualifying squad is completed, all of the bowlers that advanced from that day's squads will compete in the daily finals. The daily finals will consist of 3 rounds each consisting of 1 game. The top 50% in each division in each round advances to the next round. Handicap divisions will continue to use their per game handicap in the daily finals. If you advance all 3 rounds you have made it to the Sunday Grand Finals and guaranteed a minimum of $1,000.

The guaranteed prizes in each daily finals are:
Round 1: $200 * Round 2: $300 * Round 3: $400

Note: On Thursday and Friday there will be two daily finals; one after the first 3 squads and one after the two night squads. You can cash both cuts and make up to $800 on these two days.

Super Senior Bonus: To give bowlers age 60 & over a better chance at making the finals, The Mini guarantees 1 in 8 Super Seniors each day will make the daily finals. When the squads are completed for a daily finals additional super seniors may be added to insure 1 in 8 that bowled that day have advanced.

Prepaid Bonus: To encourage bowlers to prepay their entry by June 6th The Mini is guaranteeing the highest series by a prepaid bowler in each division, that competed in one of the qualifying squads for the daily cut, will be in the finals. If a prepaid bowler has made the cut in every division no bowler will be added. But if no prepaid bowler made the daily finals in a division one will be added. Up to 4 bowlers per daily finals (one per division) can be added.

THE SUPER MARATHON DAILY FINALS

Bowlers that purchased the Super Marathon entry, and did not advance to the Grand Finals, get a FREE second chance at cashing and making the Grand Finals. On Sunday, July 3 at 9am, all Super Marathon entrants that have yet to make the Grand Finals will bowl in their own daily finals. There is no extra cost to enter this daily finals and all rounds will be one game within the four divisions. The prizes paid out will as follows:

Advance 1 round: $200 * Advance 2 rounds: $300 * Advance 3 rounds: $300
Bowlers advancing through all 4 rounds go directly into the Grand Finals
and guaranteed a minimum of $1,000!

THE GRAND FINALS

The Sunday Grand Finals will include all of the bowlers that made it through 3 rounds of each Daily Finals plus the Super Marathon Daily Finals. The Grand Finals will consist of one game rounds within a division with the top 50% advancing each round. Handicap divisions will continue to use their per game handicap in the Grand Finals.

The minimum guaranteed prizes for the Grand Finals are:
Round 1: $1,000 * Round 2: $1,250 * Round 3: $1,500 * Round 4: $2,000
Top 4: $20,000-$12,500-$11,000-$10,000

With 1,750 entries the Grand Finals will pay:
Round 1: $1,000 * Round 2: $1,500 * Round 3: $2,000 * Round 4: $4,000

Top 4: $20,000-$15,000-$12,500-$10,000

Please note: The number of rounds in the Daily Finals and Grand Finals are determined by the number of finalists. Some divisions may have more rounds than others based on their entry counts.

THE FINAL SHOOTOUT

The last remaining bowler from each division in the Grand Finals will now combine to bowl a one game shootout to determine the top 4 places and who will be the 2011 Summer Mini-Eliminator Champion. All four division champions are guaranteed to earn a minimum of $10,000. The two handicap champions will continue to use their per game handicap while the two scratch champions will continue to bowl scratch.
